I am Stella, I was born and grew up in the province of Udine, a small town in the North East of Italy. My father is Italian and my mother is from Myanmar. I now live in Cambridge (UK) with my husband, Andrea, who is proudly from Rome and also the main food-taster of my recipes!
I love food and I love cooking for my family and friends. I inherited this passion from my parents: my mother is an excellent cook, she puts love and passion every time she cooks a meal, be it a simple boiled egg or a more complex chicken curry; my father…well, he loves eating a good meal and he is always very careful to select the perfect wine pairings!
I am a combination of the above: I love food, I love cooking for myself and for the others, and to style food before serving it at the table. I also love eating and I think one of the greatest pleasures in life is to enjoy a meal, be it at home or at the restaurant, with a glass of wine (why not?) and to appreciate every single flavour in a bite.
My mother always told me that cooking is a skill that runs across her family and that one day, I’d learn how to cook too. Finally, that day arrived, when she called me in the kitchen and said: “Come here, Stella. Today, I teach you how to make potato gnocchi!”. And this is how it all started…
Why the Potato Gnocchi Club?
I chose this name to represent an idea: we all started cooking with one recipe, which was our first. For me, this was potato gnocchi, but for you, it may have been something else… After that very first recipe, we all improved and expanded our personal cooking skills simply by practicing the same old recipes, by learning new ones from family, friends, famous cooking shows, or by experimenting in the kitchen and finding new flavour’s combos.
So, in the end, I believe that we all belong to the idea of the Potato Gnocchi Club.
I feel and embrace the importance of eating well and healthy. I find inspiration in food itself: my recipes are for everyone who loves eating well, who wants their meal to be homemade and easy to prepare. Some recipes may even challenge you to create something new!
My goal is to share with you what I know about cooking and baking. I’ll share my recipes, all homemade, Italian sounded but without boundaries, inspired by my family’s tradition, cookbooks, and my mood!
I hope to inspire you to cook your food with love, for yourself and for your beloved ones <3 Buon appetito!
